A Matrimony of Science

This is a Radio Play that we made, written by Hannah Sassaman and performed live at the Fringe Festival and the first Prometheus Radio Barnraising in 2001. It is about the promising but ultimately tragic love between Lee Deforest, one of the best known inventors of radio, and Nora Stanton Blatch, ardent feminist and the first woman civil engineer to graduate from Cornell. It is based on a chapter from the book, Empire of the Air, by Tom Lewis. As far as we can tell, it is a pretty much true story, though of course we were not there to witness the events recounted…
