Media Sanctuary is a non-profit community media center serving the Capitol Region of New York. When IMA last worked there, we helped launch WOOC-LP. The station now has a very successful nightly news magazine, produced by over 40 volunteers. Unlike many community radio stations, no one can get an individual show on WOOC. The way for volunteers to participate in the station is to help produce segments for the Hudson Mohawk News Magazine show, which airs 5 nights a week from 6 till 7PM, and repeats the next morning. This approach has dramatically strengthened the drive time (when the vast majority of listeners tune in) quality of the radio station, and helped to draw significant listenership.
